LaTonya Matheney, a native of Crossett, Arkansas, is a higher education professional with a deep passion for student development and achievement. Her educational pursuits include a Bachelor of Science in Sociology (Dec. 2004) and Master of Science in College Student Personnel and Administration (May 2008) both from the University of Central Arkansas. In addition, LaTonya received her graduate certificate in the summer of 2014 in Conflict Mediation from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
LaTonya believes heavily in the power of education, holistic development and servitude. Some of her service efforts, past and present, throughout the community link her to civic efforts powered by; Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas, Bethlehem House, College Bound Arkansas, CAPCA, Choosing to Excel, Diversity Advisory Committee (UCA), Minority Mentorship (UCA), Black Male Achievement Challenge (UCA), Student Government Association (UCA) and the UCA Black Alumni Chapter. Additionally, she is a graduate of The Conway Area Chamber of Commerce’s Conway Area Leadership Institute Inaugural Class of 2017.
These days LaTonya is embracing all that life has to offer with one main mantra in mind, “You either walk inside your story and own it, or you stand outside your story and hustle for your worthiness” insightful words by storyteller and professor Brené Brown. Through the embodiment of those words coupled with balance and gratitude LaTonya hopes to continue along this corridor of development for herself and others!
